Learn the interesting story of Sunloft’s development.

The Sunloft Center

More adults than ever are choosing to live in downtown areas. They prefer it over life in a gated community with generic home styles and often far removed from shopping, restaurants and entertainment attractions. They like the convenience of walking in the evening after work (they may work downtown as well), doing some shopping, getting a couple of ice cream cones, or dining at a downtown restaurant.

They find downtown community life exciting and a refreshing change from typical suburban residential communities. Punta Gorda’s downtown offers all of those choices and Sunloft Center will be in the heart of downtown. It is only a few minutes walk from The Sunloft Residences to the City Parks along the Harbor where there are kids playgrounds, tennis courts, picnic areas and regular concerts in the historic Park Pavilion. And it only takes a few minutes more to walk to Fisherman’s Village, an attraction on the Harbor point visited by a million guests each year.

Punta Gorda has been named by many national publications as one of top ten “best places” to live in the Southeast U.S. and many have said it is the best place to live in the entire U.S. Punta Gorda is located on Charlotte Harbor, the second largest harbor in the State of Florida. Charlotte Harbor is known nationally as one of the finest fishing locations in the nation, its waters teeming with Tarpon, Bluefish and a wide variety of other sporting fish. Punta Gorda is just 40 minutes north of Ft. Myers on US Interstate 75. A new international airport has just opened in 2005 in Ft. Myers with regular flights throughout the U.S. and the World. It is also just a 40 minute drive north to Sarasota and an hour’s drive south to Naples, Florida.

Punta Gorda has a history dating back to pre-Civil War days and one of its main attractions is it charming Historic District along the Harbor waterfront fronted by five major public parks. Punta Gorda has a peaceful small-town atmosphere with a lively downtown area featuring excellent restaurants and entertainment venues. It is in that downtown that the new Sunloft Center is being built. It will be the “town center”because of its central location.
